Thursday 24th October
Last full day of our long vacation and tomorrow we catch our plane home 🙁 It is also our last full day in Boston, so we wanted to make the most of it, and we did! Over 26,000 steps and 21 kilometres!
With a fine day and blue sky we started where we left off yesterday at the harbour front. Continuing over to Seaport we encounted a number of old wharves and warehouses being upgraded and where a large number of apartments are being constructed. There are still a number of fishing fleet boats operating from the area as well.
On the way back, we passed by the wharf where the famous Boston Tea Party took place and all the tea tipped into the harbour.
We pushed on to Chinatown, which was not at all remarkable.
Then a long walk to Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox, where we took a tour of the stadium, hearing its history, the number of world series championships they have won, and a lot of names we had never heard of. The stadium was built in 1912 and there is a lot of history there. Unfortunately they were replacing the turf before the snow so the view of the grounds were not as good as they could have been.
By this time most of the day was gone, so we went back into Boylston Street, walked through the Prudential Shopping Mall consisting of up market shops, and eventually stopped at Sola's, an Irish Pub for dinner.
A long fruitful day, but after yesterday and today, tired legs ! On the way back to our AirBnb apartment, we were treated to the sunset behind the city skyline and the airport in front!
