Day 61 Monday 16th October 2023 - Giarre
As we depart Sicily and head back to the mainland, the next 2 days will be essentially transit days. On our way to Messina, we called into Giarre to have a look around, not much to see and really a waste of time. We arrived at our apartment just outside of Messina in an area called Tremestieri. The apartment host who welcomed us was wonderful and made us feel right at home. We spent the afternoon planning a next few nights and the ferry trip back to the mainland.
Breakfast in the morning was home cooked cake and hot croissants.
Day 62 Tuesday 17th October 2023 - Montalto Uffugo
After the wonderful breakfast, we were on our way to the ferry port by 9:15. Crossed the strait and back onto the mainland, the weather was gloomy and it rained for about an hour, which was good as the car needed a good wash. Arrived at our next overnight stop at Montalto Uffugo, again a quite nice private apartment with plenty of room and private parking.
