Day 10 - Transfer Copenhagen to Kiel
Anyway, we were down for breakfast at 7.30, and again the breakfast spread was amazing, the bread they serve up is fantastic. Tania, the carb addict chose to stay clear of the temptation. Our tour group has consistently been punctual with times and again this morning the bus left at 9.00 am on the dot. We should also mention that while the entire group is from Australia, we are the only ones from Adelaide.
Today Henriette is looking after us, and she gave us lots of good information on Denmark. The drive took almost 5 hours and we got to the ship terminal in Kiel around 14:00. We had to check in our bags and go through security. The process took us a while and there were lots of passengers embarking, and as we found out, lots were already on the ship. The ship is huge, with over 6000 passengers and 1400 crew onboard. It is also very glitzy, with lots of shops, bars, theatres, lounge rooms, pools etc etc.
Being cruise ship virgins, it was a bit overwhelming. Also being newbies, it took a while for us to locate our cabin, but eventually found it. It was a pleasant surprise, after the small cabins on the ferries, our basic inside cabin was surprisingly large, with a comfortable double bed and still room on the floor for suitcases and still room for us to do back exercises if necessary.
Our bags were delivered to our room, even though we were expecting trouble because the 3 knives that were packed into our cases, a prohibited item, fortunately didn't raise any concerns.
We didn’t really unpack, but went to the Sky Lounge, which overlooks the pool area and sat with tour friends as the ship left port and commenced our trip back to Copenhagen.
Our package includes a reserved seating in one of the restaurants each evening with a 20.00 sitting time. This is good as it brings together our tour group each evening, unless some decide to take a speciality dining (at cost) option at one of the specialty restaurants on board. Dinner finished at 21:30, to allow for the 22:00 sitting to come in. We headed straight back to our cabin for a shower and bed.
