Day 43 - Aberdeen, Scotland
Friday 26th September, 2025 - Aberdeen, Scotland
We drove into the centre of town and parked in the Union Square multi story carpark. We picked up a city map at the hotel in the complex and set out to explore, walking first down Union Street, then turned toward Old Aberdeen which contained King's College, a university first established in 1495. It had cobbled stoned streets and numerous old stone buildings and charming cottages.
There was a bakery on site catering for students, which meant great value pies and cakes, yes we purchased some of each and they were delicious. We were warned about aggressive swooping large seagulls, but was able to scoff down our treats without any incidences.
We walked through Seaton Park, a garden and wetland area then back toward the museum and library area of Aberdeen. In all we spent 5 hours there exploring and enjoyed the visit.
On the way home we stopped in at Stonehaven, a small coastal village with a pebble beach. Then onto Forfar, another small inland village where Tania was found a nice pure wool jacket at at charity shop and also a zester at a small iron monger store (whatever that is).
Final stop on the way home was to the hotel in Alyth where Graeme had a burger and Tania stuffed mushrooms - both were delicious. Even better the hotel was only 16 mins drive just on dusk of winding roads back to our accommodation at Bridgend on Lintrathen - these were the only windy narrow roads we encountered during today - unlike yesterday!
