Day 45 - Glasgow, Scotland

Sunday 28th September, 2025 - Glasgow, Scotland

Update on the Glasgow Subway - we found a book in our apartment that gave the history of the subway - turns out it was built in 1895, which explains the construction of it ... either they were all a lot shorter back then, OR it saved a lot on the hand digging of the tunnel !! 🙂 Fortunately the carriages had been updated and the seats were quite comfortable. There were 15 stations in total on the looped subway and we caught the outer line to the city and the inner line to Partick.

Today being our last day we didn't have anything specific planned other than to go into the city centre and wander around for a few hours. Exactly what we did. Glasgow is a sprawling city of mainly older style nineteenth century buildings. There were a few 20th century buildings, but some of those were dilapidated already and marked for re-development. Strolled along the Clyde River and into the manicured Glasgow Green.

Our apartment in the Westend of Glasgow.
