Day 18 Dehli - Agra

We drove straight to New Dehli to meet Bobby from Salaam Baalak, an organisation that look out for homeless and disadvantaged youth on the streets in Delhi, bring them in and give them opportunities for educaion and improvement. Bobby was one of the boys who came to the organisation when he was nine, and is now one of the leaders. The headquarters was located quite near the New Dehli Train Station and was once a dormitory home for the boys.
He walked us through the back streets of New Delhi to the headquarter building where he gave a talk about the organisation. The whole area is squalid and dirty. They had fund raising items for sale but we opted to just give a donation.
Following this visit, we drove into Old Delhi, walked through Chandri Chowk Market, down silversmith lane, tried a somosa from a street vendor whose family had been running the stall since 1868 or there abouts.
We then visited the Sikh temple of Gurdwara Sisganj established in 1783. All required to wear a head scarf we took our shoes off, washed our feet and walked through the temple along with a multitude of worshippers.
From there we walked to the biggest mosque in India, known as the "Great Mosque" Jama Masjad, which could hold up to 25,000 worshippers in one visit. After this is was a long drive to AGRA with a lunch stop along the way arriving at around 4.00pm.
Group dinner out at 6:30 which was very nice trying out various Indian dishes.
