A big driving day today, leaving the hotel after breakfast at 8.00am, we had to walk to our bus again for 15mins, our luggage was loaded up on top of the bus with a tarp covering it. A surprise, our tour leader had organised to pick up a musician/singer to serenade us as we left Kathmandu. He gave 5 traditional songs. We had a long drive ahead, slow going through the city, and also slow through the countryside with the roads being very rough due to flooding, landslides and reconstruction works.
We had 2 toilet stops plus a lunch stop and arrived in Pokhara at 15:30. We dropped our luggage into our room and headed straight down to the market strip, only 5 minutes walk from our hotel for some power shopping. Pokhara is like the destination for adventurers for trekking, mountain climbing, zip line, para gliding, bungee jumping etc etc, so very commercial and lots of restaurants and bars.
The shopping strip was long with shops selling pashminas, cashmere items, a variety of clothing, artwork, bags and a lot of shops selling knock off adventure gear.
