We left our hotel after breakfast at 8:00am, and another long drive ahead. We stopped at a bakery for some snacks, I think because our tour leader thought it would be a good backup in case there were hold ups on the road.
All was good and we arrived at our next G Adventures Moment staying at the Barauli Community Village, which in run by the local indigenous Tharu people of the Chitwan area. We were welcomed with a traditional song, a garland around the neck and a bindi or third eye ! - very nice.
As soon as we arrived we could order lunch which was served at 14:30, and the serves were huge. No need for the bakery snacks we had bought ! We then had a bike ride scheduled through the village at 17:00. We chose a bike each, had the seats adjusted and rode around the area for an hour and a half, and while it was great seeing the housing and living environment of the residents, it was low on commentary by our leader as we rode. The bikes could have all done with a service and Tania was missing her gel padded seat from home. The uneaveness of the back roads was challenging, full of pot holes, coarse rubble, puddles and mud.
It was also very hot and humid and we were wet through at the end of the ride, when we stopped by the riverside to observe the sunset and drink tea and biscuits.
As we walked to the river, a bus load of men, together with others on motor bikes arrived. They got off and carried a wrapped body down to the riverside, we were told that it was going to be a cremation. There was also another group of men on their way back from the river carrying a huge Catfish slung across his shoulders, obviously pleased with their efforts and looking forward to dinner tonight.
The sunset was very pleasant, we then rode back to camp, hung our wet clothes out to dry, and was treated to the Tharu's traditional song and dance prior to dinner. There were 5 songs and the last one everyone was asked to get up and join in just as the rain starting coming down ! Great fun !!!
Dinner served at 20:30, huge serves again - we were never going to be hungry here. Off to our rooms for a shower and bed as we have an early start tomorrow !

What a catch.
You both dance like you were naturals.
