Once again, breakfast in room (porridge), packed and walked back to the port to catch a bus to the Athens Airport where we have booked to pick up a rental car. We caught the bus at 8:30 and were at the airport 35 mins later, unfortunately, we had booked the car collection for 11:00 am we had to wait for 1.5 hours or be charged for another day's rental. When we fronted to the counter at 9:30, they confirmed the car was ready and waiting. However, as things sometimes go when you are travelling, when we returned to collect the car, they had given it to someone else. A little disconcerting as we pre-booked an automatic transmission car, and they are like hen's teeth to get in Europe with most rentals being manuals. Patiently we waited for them to sort out their issue. We eventually got assigned another vehicle with automatic transmission and it was slightly larger than we had ordered, so win win !l
After a quick bite to eat, we hopped back into the car and headed to Nafplio, once the capital of Greece, and quite often cited as being the prettiest town in Greece. Well it lives up to that citation !! We loved wandering the streets and harbour front of Nafplio. This seems to be the go to town for purchasing your kompoloi or worry beads and it even has a museum with pieces dating from modern day back to the 15th century.

Nafplio, once the capital of Greece. I did not know that. Nice piece of trivia to have been made aware of. It certainly looks pretty. And, now that you’ve been there, you can stop worrying.
what a lovely town to wander around
