Italy – Pescara
Italy – Pescara

Day 74 Sunday 29th October 2023 - Pescara (Vasto)

We woke up reasonably early this morning, Tania asked the time, Graeme looked at his watch and said 7:30. Tania held up her phone and said "Why does this say 6:30 ?" A quick Google search and we discovered daylight saving time finishes in Italy on the last Sunday of October ... this is it ! Bonus - an extra hour to stay in bed !

We had plenty of time to get to Pescara, only 1.5 hours drive, so we decided to choose the "no toll Road" option in Google Maps, and followed the coast road through little villages. Stopped at Vasto for a coffee break and look around. What a pleasant little town with views out over the Adriatic Sea and extensive sandy beaches. The coffee was so nice here, we had a second cup after our wanderings and before we departed.

Arrived at Pescara around 13:30, too early to check in, so again went for an exploratory walk through the town. This town is more modern than ones we have been in, but right on the coast and a very nice beach front, with wide expanses of sand. Can see this place would be very popular during summer, in fact this whole coastline area is very much a summer resort location, with many hotels, camping grounds and caravan parks. Of course, this time of year most places are closing down for winter.

Interesting point to share here is that to get into our apartment, post registration online, we were given a web link that would enable remote opening of the front gate, the front door and room door to our apartment, no keys required.

Back to our accommodation, and tonight was the first night in a month that we have brought our suitcases into the room from the car, reason being we are losing our rental car tomorrow and needed to re-pack our gear so we could handle it in the transfer from Rome Airport into the city.
