Day 46 - Glasgow, Scotland - Hamburg
Monday 29th September, 2025 - Glasgow to Hamburg via Heathrow
Today is a travel transfer day, Up early at 6:10, caught the local bus with luggage at 6:55 into the Buchanan Street Bus exchange, hopped onto the Airport Express buss #500 (we already had bought a return ticket from when we dropped of our rental car) and arrived at the airport at 7:50.
We had a British Airway flight to Hamburg via Heathrow, disemabrking at Heathrow and changing planes. Tania forgot about the liquids and gels rules for international flights and lost the Chilli Jam we were bringing home to enjoy, at least we got to try it before they put it in the bin.
The plane was late leaving Glasgow by about 15 mins, and when we arrived in Heathrow, we sat on the tarmac for 30 mins waiting for a gate to become available to disembark. Our flight to Hamburg was scheduled to leave at 14:!5, and ended up departing the gate at 15:15, evetually arriving in Hamburg at 17:30. All of this didn't really matter to us, as we had nothing planned to do in Hamburg other than to sleep and shower, but the impressions left on us by British Airways were not that complimentary, they seemed to be running late all day, and never really apologised.
Our hotel in Hamburd was a 20 minute walk from the airport, we decided to store our luggage at the airport for a negotiated fee overnight, but it saved us lugging our cases over and back. We walked via an Aldi and bought some supplies for dinner. A shower and bed to be up and back to the airport by 7:00 to pick up luggage and check in for our Qatar flights home. Today was long travel day, and tomorrow will be even longer !
