Thursday 10th October
This morning was the coldest we have experienced so far!!! -2 degrees !!!
We didn't actually feel the full impact until we walked outside from our overnight B&B after breakfast. Until then we had enjoyed a really cosy, comfortable night in our room and the most scrumptious breakfast. We did glance outside our bedroom window and noticed it was a little foggy, but that was before breakfast.
Out and on the road by 9.30am and the fog was still hanging around, with visibility quite poor at times. Once it started to lift we were again viewing the most wonderful colours of the changing Fall leaves, and it turned out to be a wonderful drive and entry into New Brunswick for us.
With a challenging start to the day we were lucky there was very little traffic on the road. After an hour had passed we noticed a sign for the next exit, "The Longest Covered Bridge in the World" !!! How could we not go? It is in the town of Hartford, New Brunswick and we drove through the one way bridge, parked got out and walked the full bridge and back. It was after 10.30am and within 5 mins the tips of our noses were starting to feel quite chilled...it was still only 4 degrees!! Not to worry, it just quickened our pace, but well worth the detour.
Back on the road and we headed toward St Andrews, a historic little seaside town on the Fundy Bay. Nice town with beautiful timber framed houses, and a neat little shopping strip along Water Street.
Spotted a couple of deer wandering through the backstreet...
We spent the afternoon exploring St Andrews before settling in at our overnight stop at Dominion Hill, a historic manor located in the hills above St Andrews. Another cold night expected tonight.
