It was the last day of the Nepal tour and basically a transit day. We had an early breakfast and all on the bus by 7.30am. There was only 138km to Kathmandu, but due to roadworks and damage from the flash flooding, 2 toilet stops and a lunch stop, it took 9 hours before we arrived at our last hotel stop in Kathmandu, The Traditional Comfort Hotel.
We drove through villages that had been absolutely devastated by the flash flood, no doubt there would have been people washed away and killed by the floods. We saw people moving their belongings, searching through the mud, and some just standing and staring in disbelief. On the way to Pokhara we passed this area 1 day before the flood had occurred and the onwards to Chitwan was no problem. Heading back to Kathmandu was going to be challenging due to road damage and many areas being cleared of debris, but fortunately it was sufficient to allow traffic through albeit slowly and sometimes one-way traffic only. The road condition was challenging along with dust, mud and pot holes.
After checking into our hotel, we had a quick walk to a local water lake and then a nearby multi level shopping centre called City Centre. Back for a quick shower and the group's farewell dinner.

Not the oldest in the tour group (although maybe close).
Well done for surviving the Nepal leg of your travels.
I think we were the eldest on our tour!!
